Hair Loss- Low haemoglobin levels
also lead to hair loss. An iron deficiency lead to low haemoglobin levels,

folic acid also precipitate hair loss. Low thyroid levels (hypothyroidism) also

diabetes) or due to nutrient deficiencies. Eating a lot of refined foods such
as white bread, burgers, pizzas, pastries, sugars, soft drinks can also lead to
dandruff. Not brushing the hair frequently leads to poor circulation to the
scalp possibly precipitating dandruff. Dandruff can be controlled by some
special shampoos containing zinc pyrithione or selenium sulphide. Along with
this what you eat makes a difference. Consuming whole grain products, vitamin B
supplements, anti oxidants like vitamin A, C, E, selenium, and zinc is helpful.
Massaging the scalp with warm oil would also help in controlling dandruff.
Oily hair- You genetics and
hormones decide whether your hair is oily or dry but perming, straightening and colouring tend to
dry hair further. Conditioning can protect dry hair from damage to a large
extent. If your hair is very oily take vitamin B6 for 8-10 days and see if it
makes a difference. Wash your hair thrice a week as oily hair attracts more
dust & din, which is a breeding ground for bacteria which cause dandruff.
Graying hair- Can be prevented by taking sufficient anti
oxidants both in the natural form as in vegetable and fruit juices, consuming
raw nuts like almonds, walnuts, cashews and in the synthetic form by taking
supplements of vitamin E, selenium, zinc, folic acid and the B-vitamins.
Graying of hair at an early age is due to heredity or due to intense stress,
but lack of a wholeness diet rich in nutrients would also cause early graying hair.
